Our History

CoventryGP started out as a single handed GP practice with Dr J Sihota on 1st October 1985, at a purpose-built building on the corner of Broad Street and Stoney Stanton Road.

Dr Sihota was joined by Dr Nahl in 1992 and together they took over the Telfer Road Surgery in Radford in 1996. Having two sites, it soon became clear that we needed another partner, so Dr Dosanjh joined the Practice in 1997. We worked from both sites, but Telfer Road Surgery was very old and in desperate need of renovation. After a lot of battles with Coventry City Council we were given planning permission to build Jubilee Health Centre, and in 2003 we opened the new surgery next to Tesco on Jubilee Crescent.

Once we opened Jubilee Health Centre we had finally had two purpose-built surgeries and the list size grew. In 2010 we were awarded a deanery grant to extended Broad Street Surgery, as we had outgrown the original building and needed to take more trainee GP’s into the surgery, so there was a need for bigger premises. In 2011 we finally finished the extension and we now have two very big purpose-built premises for our patients to use.

In 2012 Dr Malik joined as a GP trainee which he later became a partner soon after the retirement of Dr Sihota. Since then the practice has grown looking after over 10,000 patients between both sites.
